Wildly Delicious

Wildly Delicious

Virgin Voyages takes a flavorful approach to Alaska by celebrating local ingredients.

When sailing in Alaska with Virgin Voyages, the scenery is only part of the story. Glaciers, fjords, humpback whales, and bald eagles command the view from the deck, while onboard, local traditions make their way into cocktails, canapés, desserts, and local beer and wine. For summer 2027, three regions—Inside Passage, Glacier & Fjords, and Alaska & Canada—take center stage on Virgin’s adults-only, high-energy voyages. As guests explore destinations including Ketchikan, Sitka, Juneau, and Icy Strait Point, the flavors follow along with a collection of food-and-drink experiences created specifically for the journey into the Great Frontier.

Golden Hour

As the light begins to soften over the Alaskan waters, gather at The Dock and Dock House for an evening spread of passed canapés and drinks inspired by the region. A bite of duck comes with berry glaze, pickled onion, and smoked salt, while lightly smoked Alaskan salmon is topped with mustard seeds and flying fish roe. For vegans, there’s a gluten-free beet tartare with dill and potato crisp, and for something sweet, a lemon tartlet pairs lemon curd and torched meringue with lemon balm.

Northern Nightcaps

Alaska calls for a different kind of drink. When the temperature begins to drop, the drinks get warmer. Upgrade your evening onboard with an intimate, interactive cocktail tasting that combines smoke, citrus, spice, and heat. Guests learn how to mix up hot cocktails built for cold horizons—Glacial Toddies, Cedar Smoke Old Fashioneds, and Fjord Negronis—then finish the night by settling in under a starry sky with dark hot cocoa, best spiked with aged spirits and sprinkled with sea salt.

Baking Alaska

Even the desserts have a wild side in Alaska. This hands-on tasting puts a regional spin on familiar favorites, including blueberry cheesecake, affogato, and Baked Alaska. The fun comes with the finishing touches: Choose from birch syrup, smoked sea salt, lingonberry reduction, or honeyed aquavit glaze to customize each bite. A flight of three Alaskan fruit wines from Bear Creek Winery accompanies the desserts, inviting guests to experiment with contrasts between sweet, salty, smoky, and tart.

Hoppy Trails

Alaska’s beer culture is best explored through a guided tasting of local brews ranging from crisp coastal ales to hop-forward IPAs. Along the way, small bites and regional stories accompany the pours, while gluten-free and alcohol-free selections make room for more than the usual beer flight. The experience also includes a take-home brew, giving guests a flavorful souvenir they can enjoy long after their ship leaves Alaska’s waters.
